Drink. Drunk. Dial.

Beyond the dance floor, littered with cigarette butts and spilt beer, lurks a late night detrimental social situation. Seven beers conjure up the courage to dial seven digits, which can lead to embarrassment, jokes and even worse…terrible regret. We all know someone, (or are addicted ourselves) to calling someone while under the influence of alcohol.

The drunken dialing epidemic was quick to infect the party scene. Thanks to advancements in technology, no longer does one have to slur a sloppy message for voicemail. Faulty fingers can type incomplete intoxicated thoughts and send them faster then the bartender can mix a round of redheaded sluts.

Since 2005, big name cell phone companies have found that a large number of consumers admitted to frequent habits of drunken dialing.

According to ABC news, 95 percent of respondents out of 400 customers admitted that they do indeed drunk dial, which convinced Virgin Mobile to offer to its Australian consumers (for a small fee of course) the option of blocking certain numbers until 6 o'clock the next morning.

LG has worked on model LP4100 that will include a built in Breathalyzer. Not only can this prevent drunk driving, but it can also be programmed to block certain numbers if one would blow over a 0.08.

Too bad it isn't offered in the United States. Not to mention the price tag.

Nights out might have to be rebudgeted for the ridiculous price of $400. The phone does come with other great extras-the mps3 player and a camera. $ 400 is a lot of tabs and tips that could be missed.

Since the LP4100 is not in the United States yet, maybe the built in Breathalyzeror drunk dialing blocker isn't worth it. We all know what the hazards are of mixing alcohol and cellular devices.

Even those of us (myself included) who don't own a cell phone, can easily stumble our way through our friends purse to make a few phone calls from a bathroom stall, or text a short message while our friends are in the bathroom stall.

Most of us have even held onto others devices, to keep them from dialing the ex. (Only to give in ourselves after a few puppy dog eyes and sad sob story.)

Not to mention we are drinking, too. The best method is to leave the phone in the car, or even better hide it. Hide it so well that even when you are sober, you have difficulty finding it.

You will be glad that the embarrassment, jokes and regret can be attributed to actions committed while at the bar, and not the ones made after the tab is paid. Dial responsibly.
